Catch up with us on:
In June 2009 we released our debut album First Act. The record was the result of seven inspiring months in The Vault studio in our home town of Brisbane. We set out to record this album ourselves in mid 2008 but before we did so we needed to see if we could in fact do everything that’s required to create a world class album from scratch.
We traditionally record the drums first so Pete was the first one off the ranks to get down on tape (into the computer). After a few weeks we had all of his drum parts on board and we were able to unleash all of the guitar and bass parts. We’d played all the songs live for some time so it was fairly straight forward getting all the guitar parts down. An extra fun aspect of it all was coming up with some new riffs/ideas on the spot; if they sounded great they stayed.
After the majority of the guitar and bass parts were down we began the vocals. As the main vocalist, Andrew had a few weeks of belting out the tunes. The songs themes deal with all ends of the emotional spectrum (anger, sadness, regret, happiness) and are written from the perspectives of observing real life and also personal experiences. To round it all out Pete and Ben added a bunch of vocal harmonies as well (plus one or two cameos by Barn). First Act is the first record in a planned 3 album set.
